Google offers excellent data through their Google Trends service. While trends will show you news results, Google Insight – a more in-depth version of Trends can be tweaked to focus on only product data if you are so inclined.
I have no experience with it but I have heard that the Amazon API may have a hook that you can access for the same data.
Anyone else have some recommendations?
